Janavad
Rule by the People
True nationhood begins with the participation of every citizen. Janavad is the conviction that power belongs to the people and must serve them.
We are volunteers from every walk of Indian life working to strengthen secular values in society. Inspired by Nehru, Gandhi, Ambedkar and other nation builders, we motivate youth to uphold fraternity and constitutional responsibility.

We believe Nation means People. For National Secular Sangh, Rastravaad is not the worship of symbols — it is the worship of human beings. Our nationalism is Manavavaad (humanism) and Lokvaad(the people's voice).
National Secular Sangh is a non-partisan citizens' movement that brings together students, workers, professionals and elders to defend India's secular character. We work through education, dialogue and community service in towns and villages across the country.
Our volunteers commit themselves to the values enshrined in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution — Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity — and especially to nurturing fraternity among the youth as the foundation of a peaceful society.
Three living principles guide our idea of a nation. Together they affirm a simple truth: a country is its people, and serving the people is the highest form of nationalism.
Rule by the People
True nationhood begins with the participation of every citizen. Janavad is the conviction that power belongs to the people and must serve them.
Humanism
Manavavad places human dignity above ideology. Every person — regardless of faith, caste or language — deserves equal respect and care.
The People's Voice
Lokvaad means listening to and uplifting the collective will of ordinary people. The nation grows when its people speak and are heard.
Our Conviction
Rastravaad = Manavavaad = Lokvaad.
Because Nation means People. To love the nation is to love its people, defend their dignity and amplify their voice. This is the nationalism we practise — humane, democratic and inclusive.
Each NSS volunteer pledges to live and act by four foundational values rooted in the Indian Constitution.
Defend the constitutional principle of equal respect for all faiths and the right of every citizen to live with dignity.
Build trust between communities through dialogue, neighbourhood service and shared cultural celebration.
Stand against discrimination of caste, gender or religion and advocate equal opportunity for all.
Promote awareness of the Indian Constitution, its values and the duties of every citizen.
Their lives remain a living curriculum for any volunteer working for fraternity and justice in modern India.
